Pre-Purchase Vehicle Inspections

A used car can look spotless and still hide expensive problems. Before you buy, bring it to our Gawler workshop and we'll check it over properly — then tell you honestly what you're getting.

Vehicle being inspected before purchase in a workshop

What's involved

We scan for stored fault codes, check the engine, brakes, suspension, tyres, fluids and for leaks or signs of past damage, then take it for a test drive so you know how it actually behaves.

You get a written report: what's sound, what's wearing out, what needs fixing soon and roughly what that'll cost. If it's a bad buy, we'll say so — that's the whole point of the inspection.

Typically includes

  • Full multi-module fault code scan
  • Engine, fluids and leak check
  • Brake, tyre and suspension inspection
  • Test drive and road-behaviour check
  • Body, rust and past-repair inspection
  • Written report with a repair-cost estimate

Common questions

Do you inspect cars before I buy them?+

Yes — that's exactly what this is for. Arrange a time with the seller to bring the car to our Gawler workshop and we'll check it over and give you a written report.

Is this a certificate of roadworthiness?+

No. This is an independent condition inspection so you know what you're buying — it isn't a replacement for any certificate or paperwork needed for a transfer. If you need that, tell us and we'll point you in the right direction.

How long does an inspection take?+

Usually around an hour including the test drive and writing up the report. If you're buying sooner than our online dates allow, email us and we'll try to fit you in.

Will you tell me not to buy it?+

Yes. We'd rather save you from a bad purchase than book a repair — if the car isn't worth buying, the report will say so plainly.
